About me and this blog
Welcome to For the Love of The Game. This is a blog where I explore and review GBA and DS Disney Animated movie games.
My name is Jay and I'm a 29 year old woman. I consider myself to be a mid-core gamer—that is, I play a wide variety of games at a wide variety of intensities. I take casual games too seriously and am often very frivolous with the more complex games. Playing games of all kinds is my main hobby, but also what I do for a living—I work in the activities department in a small nursing home.
I am a Disney fan but not a "Disney Adult". My favorite film of all time (not just my favorite animated film, not just my favorite Disney film) is Brother Bear. While I love Disney films I do not make it my entire personality nor do I support Disney as a company. It is far too monopolizing and has a poor political track record.
So why Disney games?
As noted above, I do love Disney films, but the main rationale for the topic of this blog is that Disney games etched out a strange niche in the 2000s and beyond. Movie games in general have a sizeable range of quality and Disney made a lot of them. Combined with nostalgia for my childhood, despite only playing a couple of Disney games (but a few other non-Disney movie tie-in games), my curiosity sparked this project.
Games will be rated on visuals, gameplay, story, and sometimes music. Remember, I am an adult, and so my view of the game may not be the same as a child's, nor may it be the same as your nostalgia-tinted memories of said game.
I hope you enjoy my adventures into the world of Disney movie tie-in games. See you there!
